Inspiration

ENG/SE Growing up in a creative home had a great impact on me; my mother was very creative, sewing clothes and painting numerous pieces of art. In addition, she worked at an architectural firm, where I spent many hours after school, nurturing my interest of color and form. Architecture and artists such as Auguste Rodin and Egon Schiele have influenced and inspired me tremendously. The contrasts of the fashion world: the power codes versus fashion’s playfulness, the possibilities to re-invent one self, interest me when styling and painting fashion. Harshness in contrast to softness shows in the mixture of masculinity and femininity in my clothes, where the differences create a balance. As a professional Social Worker and Sexologist, I believe that self-esteem and sexual identity are closely linked, and I also believe that they manifest themselves outward in the ways we prefer to dress. Our clothes signify non-verbal communication; which, in my art, are open for different interpretations.
